How to Use Bakhoor at Home
Using bakhoor is a simple, meditative practice. Here is how to get started:
- Choose your burner. A traditional mabkhara (incense burner) with a charcoal disc is the classic method and produces the most authentic experience. Electric bakhoor burners are a convenient, flame-free alternative perfect for everyday use.
- Prepare your charcoal (if using traditional method). Light a charcoal disc using tongs and hold it over a flame until it begins to glow and spark. Place it in your burner and wait 2–3 minutes until it is fully lit and covered in grey ash.
